Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Below are some of the most common questions and shared lessons from field use.
Do planters prefer the thicker or thinner tape for general use?
Thinner or lightweight paper works just as well as thicker paper but it breaks down faster.
Can the tape still be seen clearly in wet or shaded conditions?
Yes, because paper flagging tape has no elasticity so it doesn’t fold-up on itself when ripped or become smaller when it is lying on the ground, hung up on slash or wrapped around branches
How does the paper hold up in rain or snow?
Paper works well for hanging off a bush or tree after it rains because unless there is extreme force while wet, the paper stays intact. When it dries it returns to its regular strength.
Does the tape leave any residue or chemicals behind as it decomposes?
No.
Can I use the tape for long-term marking, or is it meant for short-term projects?
The Thicker heavy weight paper flagging tape can last up to 8 to 12 months tied to a bush and less than that when lying on the ground.
Does the paper rip easily?
For tying, It takes a little longer and you need to be more careful when using the flagging tape on bushes or trees. If you use the Constrictor or Anchor Hitch knot, the paper flagging tape responds well. If you want to reduce plastic on the land it can save hours from going back to take down the flagging tape when the project is done.
For tree planting, the type of dispenser or technique is important. The flagging tape must be pulled from a frictionless carrying device like the Hawk Ripper, a large carabiner, or straight out of the seedling pouch. The traditional flagging pouch does not work well.
Is the Hawk Flagging Tape safe for the environment?
Yes. There are no Microplastics in our biodegradable flagging tape. The paper used for our product is used in schools, homes, offices and for food packaging.
Can the product help companies meet sustainable reporting and compliance goals?
