Who We Are
Established in 2021, Hawk Planting Works is currently in its developmental stage, operating out of a garage in Prince George, B.C. With a clear objective of providing paper flagging tape as an alternative to plastic, we aim to contribute to sustainable practices within the forestry industry by using a forestry product.
Our commitment extends to a year-long research endeavor focused on harnessing the potential of paper as an alternative to plastic. Diving into innovative initiatives, our team is currently conducting operational trials to use EcoTrace, a paper-based solution, into the reforestation and forestry survey industry alongside the Ripper dispenser.

What We Do
Hawk Planting Works takes pride in developing and marketing innovative solutions for the forest industry, with a focus on its two key products – EcoTrace and the Ripper
Addressing the demand, in some regions, for an alternative to the banned use of plastic in forestry, Hawk Planting Works developed EcoTrace, a paper ribbon/flagger product with bright colors enables planters to maintain high-speed operations easily spotting their previously planted seedlings. EcoTrace also helps planters achieve efficient dispersing of the seedlings reducing the costly waste of double plants and missed areas all while decomposing in months rather than years.
The Ripper, the brainchild of Colby Hawkenson, takes pride in developing and designing the container for both plastic and paper ribbon, was conceived to address the need for a user-friendly and efficient tool in the tree planting industry. Colby's vision was to create a container that could be operated with a single hand, optimizing the speed of ribbon ripping during tree planting and forestry use. This tool not only streamlines the flagging/ribbon ripping process but also takes into consideration the environmental demands of the forest industry.
